There are many things in this beautiful world that I love. As I said in my last blog post, I have many fandom obsessions. But that leaves out all the other obsessions I have. Some people aren’t that open about their obsessions (tis why I wrote secret^^), but me…I am truly open about them.

I think everyone that has met me and or has read my blog, knows my crazy Disney movie obsession. In art class I listen to Disney music from my friend’s iPod (another Disney fanatic) and mouth the words dramatically. I call it my Daily Dose of Disney. As you can tell I am a crazy person that doesn’t really care what she does in public if her friends are around. So anyways back to Disney…huh. I always seem to bring or link everything back to Disney…O.o SEE WHAT I MEAN!! OBSESSION!!! OH! I almost forgot…brb…where is it…dad do you know  where the CD is…ok back! I just needed to add some Disney music on my iPod…Tarzan!!! Phil Collins rocks!!

Another obsession of mine you would know if you read my about me section, is Wattpad. It is this awesome site that I came across last year looking for a good Hunger Games Fanfic (last year’s obsession). Ever since I discovered it, I have been on it twenty-four seven either reading books or writing my own. For those who don’t know what it is, (and if you are in my class
and saw my techspert presentation, you can skip the description if you want…) it is a website much like fanfiction.net with a few additions (actually a lot…). Wattpad is a place where writers and readers alike can go to find and put awesome books for people to read. Writers who have no idea where to put any of your written stories for people to read, you can put them here and get comments on each chapter that you write. Wattpad has many different book categories as well (Fanfics, romances, teen fictions, horror, mystery, adventure, paranormal, werewolf, vampire, humour, poetry, thriller, action, non-fiction, classics,
fantasy, and a few more). So yeah…another obsession, and if you want you can check it out here http://www.wattpad.com/

Hmm… what other obsessions do I have? Oh! I have one sort of tiny obsession that has to do with art. I don’t know why, but whenever I sketch I always end up drawing trees. And not just any kind of trees, but winter trees with no leaves….did that just rhyme? Oh well. I just don’t understand why though! It just happens! Even when we are at restaurants and my brother gets
crayons, I always draw trees!!! This is a really weird obsession that some of my friends and family already have noticed after spending too much time with me. I am going to post a few at the bottom to show you guys what I mean.

I can’t think of any more obsessions at this time soooo… Peace  River trout!

I'm sorry Evan. I just didn't know what I should write for your suggestions.

Fandoms are everywhere. And I mean everywhere. Facebook, Twitter, Tumblur, Wattpad, on the streets...etc. I mean...the fandoms can get really crazy. People can get into pretty heated arguments just because someone insulted their fandom. So a word of the wise; be careful when talking about a major fandom in public places...

What is a fandom some may ask? Well a fandom is when people are overly obsessed fans of something like a TV show or movie. These are fans that have taken it to the next level of obsession. They develop ‘ships’ for their fandom and make it even worse. For anyone who might not know, ‘ships’ are when one person and another from the fandom are seen in a romantic relationship by the shipper (a.k.a. the fan). A ship can take control of the ‘shipper’ and give them ‘feels’.‘Feels’ are what the  shipper gets whenever they see their ship together or something like that. It ruins lives.

Some things I have fandoms for are Harry Potter (as you probably know already...), Hunger Games (yeah if you read my last post...), The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings (my friends are obsessed with it for some reason and got my hooked), The Avengers (again my friends got me hooked), The Immortal Instruments, and a few bands (No not One Direction...I like them, but not that much!). SO...as you can see I too have my fandoms, I am not as bad as some people though...just to let you know. I do however have many, and I mean many, pictures of Harry Potter and Hunger Games stuff on my iPod. But, I don't have any ships.

Fandoms can definitely bring people closer though. My friends and I have soooooo many inside jokes because of our fandoms!
It’s awesome! Hee hee... ‘I wonder...’ (oh Rachel if you end up reading this...hee hee).

SOOOO...what’s your poison? Which fandoms are you apart of? Comment and let me know!

On a side note, check out the right side of my blog. I moved the Quote of the Day from the top to the side. And if you want you can leave questions in a comment and I will answer them (Unless they are gross or something weird)!

I guess it isn't always in the last book a favourite character dies, but whatever!

Why in the last book of a series does author’s tend to kill off your favourite characters? Is it because in real life there isn’t true happy endings and that if there was that when there is happy endings there is always some sort of pain endured to get there? Maybe the author is trying to tell us a life lesson of some sort. That life isn’t all those Disney movies make it out to be, always a happy ending. Yes, people can have happy endings; it just takes more than just waking up from a kiss and living happily ever after with a prince.

You’re probably thinking in your head ‘But this isn’t true for all books Shannon!’

I know! And I’m getting to that! Gosh!!!

Depending on the types of books you read, this would apply to you. If the book series is about sports or is more for kids,  there probably wouldn’t be any favourite characters that get killed off. So to those who were thinking the previous—that not all book series end with a favourite character dying, I’m going to change my earlier question. Why do most fiction books and some nonfiction books end a series with one of your favourite characters dying?

(Oh by the way...SPOILER ALERTS!! If you haven’t read Mockingjay you may want to stop reading the paragraph before I say ‘For example’. Same goes to those who have, for some odd reason, not read and or seen Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Just read to there and skip to the last paragraph if you don’t want to know anything about the books because you are going to read either one. If you don’t care...well then keep reading, but I must say YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!)

Maybe it’s because the author needs to show how bad the antagonist is and that the protagonist has to stop it as soon as possible. For example, in two of my favourite book series last book they kill of my favourite fictional characters. In the Hunger Games series, Finnick Odair dies on their fight to bring down President Snow in Mocking Jay and primrose died because of
an unexpected air raid (?). In Harry Potter and the deathly hallows, Fred Wesley dies in the battle of Hogwarts as they fight against Voldemort and his Deatheaters.

If this is true—then why didn’t they kill them off earlier? It could have saved us from feeling depressed from the characters death because we didn’t get attached to them like we did. I guess you can see why they had to. Writers want people to feel the emotions their characters feel, to move you and get the same hatred for the antagonist that the main character feels. I know
for a fact that when Peeta got high jacked and when Finnick died, I wasn’t the only one who wanted to jump into the book and kill President Snow their self for causing all the pain to Katniss!

So, to sum up: authors kill off these characters to either make you connect with the book emotionally or maybe to give us a life lesson. One I really don`t appreciate.

I’m not sure why I got on this topic, but here is what I found out when I did a little research about superstitions.

Everyone has that one thing they believe in, whether it’s that the 13th of Friday is bad luck day or that a four leaf clover is lucky. I even remember when I was little; I was told that if you stepped on a crack you will break your mother’s back. I avoid all the cracks that I could that day, and when I stepped on one I would feel so bad and rush home to see if my mom was ok.

Just the other day, we had my mom’s best friend over and she brought her kids over. Being the awesome people we were, we started to play hide-and-go-seek in the dark on the upstairs floor. Since it was dark, a boy ran into the painting my dad made and it fell to the floor. Because my dad gets really protective over the painting, we all started to yell at him for knocking it over. My mom heard us, and all but screamed at the boy as he was about to hang it on the wall. She told him that she would hang it up and then proceeded to tell him that if a painting falls off the wall and someone who doesn’t live in the house puts it back up, someone in the household will die. I didn’t know what to say to that when I heard her say it.

I read something on the internet about how people believe in superstitions because they either need something to believe in. Maybe they are just lazy and say because I have a lucky rabbit’s foot I will win the competition. Or even, that they want to feel in control and/or they feel insecure and just need that one thing to believe in.

On the same webpage, I read that superstitions are just placebos. For example, when we believe something is bad luck, we subconsciously forget all the good things that happen and only focus on the bad. Our mind tricks us into believing it worked, when actually it was all you. It’s like that one suite life on deck episode (for all those cool people who used to watch that show) where Bailey tricked London by saying that this one perfume would make her smart. It actually helped London, even though it was just regular perfume.

I know that superstitions are probably not real, but I still believe in them just in case something does go wrong.

Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. There are many different fears that people can have; either rational or irrational that can come about from a traumatizing moment. Some people are afraid of things like: Bugs (spiders), heights, the dark, thunderstorms, etc. There are countless amounts of fears out there in the world. Everybody is afraid of one thing or another, what are you afraid of?

One of my biggest fears is public speaking. Not stage fright per say because I am totally fine with performing a Synchro routine in front of people, though. I just get really nervous when I have to present a project in front of the class that I tend to stutter and loose my train of thought. The fear is getting better I do have to admit, but it’s still an issue.

I tell this story to most people when I talk about my fear; I had an English presentation last year where I was so scared that my knees started to shake, and throughout the whole entire presentation I was stuttering like a maniac and got lost reading the paper I had to help me. That was probably the worst case of my fear.

Something that did help me a little bit though was drama class. It got me to open up and relax a bit when I was speaking. It helped me because somehow I was able to convince my history teacher that I wasn’t nervous, when actually I was freaking out inside.

So, what are your fears? And how do try and get over them? If you are comfortable with sharing, feel free to comment!
